Notably, a young squad is selected for the tour as the senior members were given a rest from the series. Only three players from the World Cup-winning team are part of Zimbabwe’s tour but the team is stuck in Barbados and yet to arrive in India.
BCCI already announced the replacement of the three players for the first two T20Is. Harshit Rana, Jitesh Sharma and Sai Sudharsan replaced Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shivam Dube and Sanju Samson in the squad.
Harshit Rana had a sensational IPL 2024 season with the title-winning team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). He picked up 19 wickets from 11 innings at an economy rate of 9.08. Sai Sudharsan also had a great season with Gujarat Titans (GT), scoring 527 runs in 12 matches at an average of 47.91.
Explosive batter Abhishek Sharma and all-rounder Riyan Parag also received their maiden India call-up after a brilliant IPL 2024 campaign. Abhishek scored 484 runs in 16 matches at a strike rate of 204. While Parag scored 573 runs in 15 matches at an average of 52.09.
