New Delhi: According to a groundbreaking study, it has been found that semaglutide, in weight loss and diabetes drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy, can work well for people suffering from fatty liver disease. The jabs can be particularly beneficial for patients of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, which affects 20% of the global population. For this, experts at King’s College London conducted a study with 800 participants who were diagnosed with NAFLD, a condition characterised by excess fat accumulation in the liver.
Why is NAFLD a health crisis?

During this trial, over a period of 18 months, 63% of the participants who were given semaglutide injections noted a dip in fat accumulation and liver inflammation.
