New Delhi: As they get ready for their T20 World Cup 2024 opening game against New Zealand on Friday evening, the Indian women’s team took some time out to sit down and talk to their families. In an interaction arranged for the India women, the entire brigade received good wishes and blessings from their families sitting back home.
In the heartwarming video shared on social media, the families of each and every player of the Indian contingent was seen extending best wishes to the team and also urging them to bring the World Cup home. Team India have never won the women’s T20 World Cup in their cricketing history. The closest they came was in the 2020 edition, when the Women in Blue reached the finals but unfortunately lost against the most successful side, Australia.
Mandhana, Harmanpreet enjoy video messages
In the last edition in 2023, India fought well to storm into the semifinals but against went down against the Aussies, who went on to clinch the World Cup for a record 6th time. Meanwhile, coming back to the video, Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur were seen enjoying the video messages sent by their families and the Indian opener was seen getting emotional as she watched her parents and brother wish the team success.
Head coach Amol Majumdar’s wife and daughter made it special, recalling the hard work of the support staff in the lead-up to the T20 World Cup.
