New Delhi: A young Indian squad failed to impress at the Harare sports club as Shubman Gill and boys suffered an embarrassing 13-run defeat against Zimbabwe in the first T20I of the five-match series. After India won the toss and opted to bowl first, bowlers did a remarkable job in restricting the hosts to 115/9 in the stipulated 20 overs.
Chasing a low-score, the young Indian batters failed to impress as the wickets tumbled one after the other resulting in India’s embarrassing defeat. Skipper Gill played a good knock of 31 runs but lost the plot in the chase after that while Washington Sundar scored 27 vital runs but it wasn’t enough to help India cross the finish line.

For Zimbabwe, Tendai Chatara and skipper Sikandar Raza scalped three wickets apiece while the other four bowlers also contributed with a wicket to devastate the Indian team. Earlier, Clive Madande top-score with unbeaten 29while Dion Myers scored 23 runs. The second T20I of the series will be played on Sunday at the same venue.
