Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants are ready to face off at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad in Game 7 of IPL 2025 on March 27. As both teams prepare for this crucial clash, LSG will be looking to recover from their loss in the first game and get off the mark in the 18th edition, while SRH will aim to continue their dominant form and maintain the top spot in the points table.
The last time these two teams met, it was an embarrassing outing for the LSG as Sunrisers chased down a target of 166 in just 9.4 overs. Many believe that the humiliating loss contributed to KL Rahul not getting retained for IPL 2025. That defeat exposed major weaknesses in Lucknow’s bowling attack, which continues to be a concern this season.
LSG’s bowling woes: A major concern
Things are even worse for the Super Giants this season as the team is missing four frontline bowlers. Injuries to Mohsin Khan, Mayank Yadav, Avesh Khan and Akash Deep have put the Super Giants in a precarious position against a power-packed Sunrisers batting line-up.
LSG management utilises all four of their available overseas slots for batters, leaving them without a premier overseas bowler in their lineup. Their playing XI, including the impact sub, consists primarily of domestic bowlers who lack the experience needed to thrive on such a big stage.
While names like Ravi Bishnoi and Shardul Thakur provide some potential, they lack the consistency because of the likes of M Siddharth, Prince Yadav and Digvesh in their bowling attacks.
SRH’s explosive batting lineup ready to dominate
Hyderabad, on the other hand, were destructive with the bat in the opener. In their previous game, they posted a monstrous total of 286/3 against Rajasthan Royals, which is the second-highest total in IPL history. With the likes of Ishan Kishan (centurion of the last game against RR), Heinrich Klaasen, Travis Head, and Abhishek Sharma in red-hot form, SRH will be aiming to get to the 300 mark while batting first.
Meanwhile, LSG has been struggling. Their recent match against Delhi Capitals was a missed opportunity, where they bottled the game and failed to capitalise on a couple of moments.
A win in Hyderabad would provide them with the much-needed momentum and could lay the foundation of a solid IPL 2025 campaign around. However, facing an in-form SRH side at home is a daunting task. If LSG manages to pull off an upset, it will be a massive confidence booster and could define season.
IPL 2025: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) clash in a crucial IPL 2025 match. SRH boasts a formidable batting lineup, aiming to build on their impressive start. Conversely, LSG faces a severe bowling crisis due to injuries, leaving their chances against SRH’s powerful batting looking bleak.
