New Delhi: Sri Lanka registered a historic series win against India after defeating Rohit Sharma and Co. by 110 runs in the third ODI at the R. Premdasa Stadium on Wednesday, August 7. Team India suffered a series loss against Sri Lanka after 27 years.
The last time Sri Lanka defeated India in an ODI series was in August 1997 when Arjun Ranatunga-led team defeated The Men in Blue by 3-0 in the three-match series. Since then, both teams have played 11 bilateral ODI series, with the Men in Blue emerging victorious in all of them.
The first ODI of the series ended in a draw while Sri Lanka defeated Rohit and co. by 32 runs in the second ODI. The Men in Blue failed to chase down the target of 249 runs in the third ODI and lost the match by big margin.
