Stock Market fraud: NSE bans 2 Telegram Channels, educates investors

New Delhi: The National Stock Exchange (NSE) has issued a warning to retail investors regarding two Telegram channels which fraudtsers are using for indulging in stock market scams. The largest derivatives exchange in the world in terms of contracts traded has also made public phone numbers of the two Telegram channels through which the fraudtsers used to provide stock markets tips. The exchange has warned retail investors that they must not establish any contact with people who operate such channels. The stock exchange has also said that the people behind the two channels used to promise guaranteed returns to investors who availed off their services.

NSE bans ‘Trade with Sunil’ Telegram Channel

The first fraudster used to run the channel by the name of ‘Trade with Sunil’ on Telegram. According to the NSE, the mobile number through which this channel was operated was 7891735138. The channel operators were caught raising money from retail investors. According to the exchange, additionally, the channel operator used to ask investors to share their demat accounts’ credentials like login ID and password. The channel provided the service of handling demat accounts of small investors.

NSE bans ‘Kirtika Mahajan’ Telegram Channel

Similarly, the exchange has also warned about another such operator named ‘Kirtika Mahajan.’ NSE informed that the channel’s mobile number was 9179069519. This operator used to provide demat account management services to investors.

NSE’s clarion call to retail investors

The Mumbai based stock exchange has strictly warned investors in India not to provide demat account login credentials to any brokerage houses. Plus, it has also advised investors to not invest in any such schemes in which they are promised guaranteed returns. Moreover, the institution has also warned small investors in that it will be solely their responsibility if they fall victim to such solicitors who promised guaranteed return on investment.

According to the NSE, retail investors can access the  ‘Know Your Stock Broker/Find Your Stock Broker’ feature on its website. Retail investors can use this feature to verify the details of phone numbers and names of brokerages whether they are registered or not.
