Stocks in News Today: Avenue Supermarts, EasyMyTrip, HCL Tech, RIL and more

New Delhi: The benchmark BSE Sensex rose 591.69 points or 0.73 per cent to 81,973.05 while the while Nifty surged 163.70 points to close at 25,127.95 on Monday. Tech Mahindra, HDFC Bank and Larsen & Toubro were the gainers on Monday while Maruti Suzuki India, Tata Steel and Bajaj Finance were the top drags.

Indian indices surged on the back of a rally in IT stocks as valuations seemed to have priced in lower Q2 earnings expectations, said Vinod Nair, Head of Research, Geojit Financial Services said.

The wholesale price index of inflation surged to 1.84 per cent in September owing to pressure in prices of food items, from 1.31 per cent in August and -0.07 per cent during the year ago period. Retail inflation surged to a 9-month high of 5.4 per cent in September, according to official data.

Avenue Supermarts: The D-Mart retail chain’s stock plunged over 8 per cent after reporting lower than expected profits in the September quarter.

Auto stocks: Auto sector stocks will be in focus as domestic passenger vehicle wholesales were forecasted to rise 3-5 per cent in FY25 on the back of festive sales by industry body SIAM, even as first half sales remained almost flat.

Cement stocks: Stocks of cement companies are likely to remain in focus after CRISIL said it expected the sector to record slower-than-expected growth at 7-8 per cent to 475 million tonnes in FY25.

Easy Trip Planners: The travel ticketing platform company’s board cleared the issuance of bonus shares in the ratio of one is to one, according to a regulatory filing.

HCL Technologies: The IT services major reported a 10.51 per cent rise in Q2 consolidated net profit to Rs 4,235 crore from Rs 3,832 crore in the year-ago period.

Hindustan Construction Company: The company received a Rs 1,031.6 crore contract from the Maharashtra State Road Development Corp for the construction of a 4.3 km bridge in Raigad district.

Lemon Tree Hotels: The comoany on Monday inked an agreement for a new property in Dibrugarh, Assam. The 65-room property will be managed by Lemon Tree Hotels’ wholly-owned unit Carnation Hotels Pvt and is likely to open in FY2027, according to a regulatory filing.

Reliance Industries: The oil to telecom conglomerate reported a 5 per cent decline in Q2 net profit to Rs 16,563 crore from Rs 17,394 crore in the year ago period, according to a company filing. RIL’s telecom and digital business unit Jio Platforms reported a 23.4 per cent jump in consolidated net profit to Rs 6,539 crore.
