Kolkata: Both Sensex and Nifty ended marginally lower on Thursday, February 13. While Sensex closed the day’s session at 76,138.97 points, down 32.11 points (or 0.042%), Nifty closed at 23,031.40 points, down 13.85 points (or 0.060%). The choppy trade continued on Thursday and the indices ended almost flat at the end of day’s trade. The stocks in news today (February 14) includes Hindalco Industries, United Breweries, Ipca Laboratories, Godfrey Phillips and Titagarh Rail Systems following the announcement of their Q3 FY25 results.
While Aditya Birla Group firm Hindalco Industries, Godfrey Phillips India and Ipca Laboratories posted a jump in profits, United Breweries and Titagarh Rail Systems showed a dip in the bottomline for the Q3 FY25 period.
Hindalco Industries Q3 results
On February 13, Aditya Birla Group firm Hindalco Industries reported a 60% jump in consolidated net profit which reached Rs 3,735 crore in Q3 FY25 period. The net profit figure stood at Rs 2,331 crore in the October-December period of Q3 FY24. Aluminium major Hindalco’s total income rose to touch Rs 58,899 crore from Rs 53,088 crore in the year-ago period while total expenses were recorded at Rs 53,563 crore in Q3 FY25 quarter against Rs 49,761 crore in the same period a year ago.
United Breweries Q3 results
The biggest beer maker in India, United Breweries, came up with a 25% drop in net profit for Q3 FY25 period — a phenomenon attributed to cuts in discretionary spending by consumers. The company’s profit before exceptional items and tax dipped to Rs 86.73 crore in the third quarter against a figure of Rs 116 crore a year ago. The company also said that it had an extraordinary one-time outgo of Rs 25.76 crore to pay for the severance pay to a section of employees. UB announced almost 7% rise in revenues which reached Rs 442 crore. It was slower than 13% growth reported in Q2 FY25 period.
Ipca Laboratories Q3 results
The net profit of Ipca Laboratories for Q3 FY25 period jumped surged 95.38% to reach Rs 267.56 crore against a figure of Rs 136.94 crore in Q3 FY24 period. The firm’s revenue from operations rose 10.34% (y-o-y) to touch Rs 1,662.68 crore in Q3 FY25, while pre-tax profit (PBT) went up 77.63% to Rs 355.52 crore in the same period (as against Rs 200.15 crore in Q3 FY24 period). The company’s operating profit (EBITDA) was recorded at Rs 446.07 crore in Q3 FY25, thereby rising 35%. The amount was Rs 330.52 crore in Q3 FY24.
Godfrey Phillips India Q3 results
Cigarette maker Godfrey Phillips India announced a 48.7% jump in net profit for Q3 FY25 which stood at Rs 315.84 crore compared to Rs 212.35 crore in the same period in FY24. Compared to the Q2 FY25 period, the net profit growth for Q3 FY25 period stood at 27%. The company’s revenue from operation rose to reach Rs 1895.52 crore in Q3 FY25 compared to Rs 1487.54 crore in Q3 FY24 period. The total income of Godfrey Phillips went up 25.7% (y-0-y) to reach Rs 1,942.86 crore.
Titagarh Rail Systems
On February 13, Titagarh Rail Systems reported a 16% (y-o-y) dip in net profit that stood at Rs 62.8 crore for the Q3 FY25 period compared to Rs 74.8 crore in Q3 FY24 period. Revenue from operations of Titagarh Rail Systems slowed declined 5.5% and was recorded at Rs 902.2 crore against Rs 954.7 crore in Q3 FY24 period. EBITDA (operating profit) declined 9.6% and stood at Rs 100.1 crore in Q3 FY25 against Rs 110.7 crore in the same period in FY24.
