New Delhi: Team India’s T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav on Saturday broke Rohit Sharma’s record to become the second-fastest Indian to complete 2500 runs in T20Is. Suryakumar slammed a blistering knock of 75 runs of 35 balls as India posted a huge total of 297/6 against Bangladesh in 20 overs at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
India scripted history by recording the highest-ever total by a full-member nation in T20Is. India’s 297/6 is the second-highest total of all time in T20I history behind only Nepal’s 314 against Mongolia. It was an extraordinary exhibition of T20 batting from India as the batters launched carnage against Bangladesh on a belter of a track in Hyderabad.
Suryakumar played his part with his quickfire 75 as he combined with centurion Sanju Samson to share a brilliant 173-stand for the 2nd wicket. En route to his 75-run knock, the Indian T20I skipper became the third Indian and the 2nd fastest to reach 2500 runs in the shortest format. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are the only other Indian batters with more than 2500 runs in T20Is.
