IND vs BAN: India miss out on 300 | Which team has highest T20I total?

New Delhi: Team India recorded its highest score in T20 Internationals during the third T20I match against Bangladesh on Saturday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Riding on opener Sanju Samson’s splendorous 111 and skipper Suryakumar Yadav’s gallant 75, the hosts posted a monumental score of 297 for 6 after 20 0vers.

However, India missed the chance to complete the eye-catching 300 with 18 runs needing in the final over. All-rounder Hardik Pandya smoked Taskin Ahmed’s short ball over deep extra cover for a six, but back-to-back dismissals by the Bangladesh pacer spoiled India’s opportunity to reach 300. Washington Sundar took a single on the penultimate delivery before Rinku Singh smashed the team’s 22nd six on the night.

India’s 297 for 6 is the highest team total by a full member of ICC in T20Is. However, the record for highest T20I total remains with Nepal, who amassed 314 for 3 against Mongolia in the first match of the Asian Games 2023 played last year in September in Hangzhou, China. No other team than Nepal has scored more than 300 runs in T20Is.

India bettered its previous best total of 260 for 5 against Sri Lanka during the second T20I played in Indore in December 2017.

India records their fastest 100 & 200

Sanju Samson powered India to a rollicking start with his ferocious shots coupled with Suryakumar’s elegance. The Men in Blue registered their joint-highest powerplay score with 82 runs after six overs for the loss of just one wicket. Suryakumar lofted Mustafizur Rahman’s slower delivery over the covers for a boundary on the first ball of the eighth over. That was the moment India marked its fastest team hundred in 43 legal deliveries.

The team took another 41 balls to reach 200 runs, which was at the end of the 14th over, and this time again, Suryakumar hit Mustafizur for a boundary, just the direction was straight down the fence. As a result, India took 84 balls to reach 200.

India missed the chance to complete the eye-catching 300 with 18 runs needing in the final over. India’s 297 for 6 is the highest team total by a full member of ICC in T20Is.  Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
