New Delhi: Team India T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav will be back in action in the domestic circuit for Mumbai as he takes part in the Andhra game of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on Tuesday, December 3. He took a short break of two weeks to attend a family function due to which he remained absent for Mumbai in the T20 tournament so far. Shreyas Iyer is currently in charge of the team and is expected to continue the role despite Surya’s addition.
The explosive batter will act as one of the regular players under Iyer’s captaincy. He will link up with the Mumbai squad in Hyderabad on Monday and is expected to play the next game against Andhra. He had conveyed to the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) about his unavailability during the initial few group stage games of the tournament, owing to a function in the family.
As per PTI, Surya is absolutely fine with Iyer continuing as the skipper and is also ready to bat at any position that the management feels is apt for the right-handed batter. Surya’s top priority has been playing for Mumbai across all domestic competitions whenever he is available and he will continue to do that.
He will be playing the remaining games of SMAT for Mumbai and will also feature in the Vijay Hazare Trophy which starts on December 21. His idea is to play for India in all three formats.
Surya leads India to 3-1 triumph
Suryakumar recently led India to an emphatic 3-1 T20I series win against South Africa. During the series that was played in the Rainbow Nation, the skipper relinquished his own batting position of number 3 for Tilak Varma after the young batter requested him for that particular slot. Tilak came out with flying colours, repaying the faith of his skipper by getting two centuries in succession which contributed at large to India’s huge victory.
Suryakumar Yadav is set to feature in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament for Mumbai, taking part from the Andhra game and will also play the Vijay Hazare Trophy starting later this month. Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
