Chennai: The ruling party in Tamil Nadu – Dravidia Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) on Tuesday dismissed it’s functionary Syed Ibrahim for his alleged involvement in drug smuggling in Rs 70 Crore Methamphetamine Smuggling incident which happened at Kilambakkam bus terminus in Chennai on Monady, July 29. He was the vice president Minority wing of the DMK in Ramanathapuram.
DMK general secretary Duraimurugan, in a statement, said Ibrahim was being “dismissed” from the party’s primary membership and other posts for violating party discipline and bringing disrepute to the party.

Methamphetamine worth Rs 70 crore seized at Kilambakkam bus terminus in Chennai
The Chennai zonal unit of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) seized nearly 6 kg of methamphetamine, worth approximately Rs 70 crore at Kilambakkam bus terminus in Chennai, yesterday. The initial investigation revealed that the substance was intended to be smuggled to Sri Lanka from Chennai via Ramanathapuram. The seizure led to the arrest of three individuals including the DMK functionary.
Meanwhile, reacting to the drug in Kilambakkam bus terminus, Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai said Chief Minister MK Stalin is answerable to the public regarding the DMK’s massive involvement in drug trafficking.

In a scoial media post Annamalai said “the fact that Zafar Sadiq, the leader of the international drug trafficking gang, was in office as a DMK executive, and now another DMK functionary has tried to smuggle a huge amount of drugs into the capital city of Chennai, cannot be passed off easily. The question of who is actually behind this gang, and the fact that after DMK came to power, the circulation of drugs has increased enormously, raises various doubts among the public.”
