Tamil Nadu: Saatai Durai Murugan held again for making derogatory remarks on Ex-CM M Karunanidhi

Tiruchirapalli: The Tiruchi cyber crime police arrested Sattai Durai Murugan, a functionary of pro-Tamil outfit Naam Tamizhar Katchi, for making derogatory remarks on former Chief Minister M Karunanidhi during the Vikravandi by-election held recently.

Saatai Durai Murugan accused of posting videos on his YouTube page criticizing the DMK government and Chief Minister MK Stalin. Following this, a complaint was lodged at the Trichy Police Station that Duraimurugan, a key administrator of the Naam Tamilar Party, had spoken defamatoryly about former Chief Minister Karunanidhi in the public meeting during the campaign for Vikravandi by-election.

Based on this complaint, Durai Murugan was arrested in Tenkasi district on Thursday morning.

It is noteworthy that the Naam Tamizhar Party leader was arrested by the Thanjavur police in 2021 and released on conditional bail for allegedly speaking defamingly about the late former Chief Minister Karunanidhi and National Women’s Commission member Kushbu Sundar from the BJP. Then, Duraimurugan was initially booked under the Goondas Act, however the court later quahed the cahrges and subsequently he was released on bail.
