Chennai: The Indian Meteorological Department has warned of very heavy rain in the Nilgiris district for the next 3 days. Also, there is a possibility of heavy rain in Tirupur, Theni, Thenkasi, Tirunelveli, and Dindigul Hilly areas and one or two places in the Kanyakumari district. IMD predicted that strong surface winds may gust at 30-40 kmph in parts of Tamil Nadu.

“Heavy rain is expected in a few places in the hilly areas of the Nilgiris and Coimbatore districts. Also, the strong land wind is likely to blow at 30-40 kmph. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning may occur in a few places in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. Light to moderate rain may occur at a couple of places in Tamil Nadu on the 02nd and 03rd of August, over Puducherry and Karaikal, the weather agency said.
Similarly, there is a possibility of heavy rain at one or two places in the hilly areas of the district including Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tirupur Theni, and Dindigul on Friday.

The sky will remain partly cloudy for the next 24 hours. Light/moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely in a few parts of the city. The maximum temperature is likely to be around 37° Celsius and the minimum temperature is likely to be around 27°-28° Celsius.
