New Delhi: Team India took a much-needed break in the West Indies before their upcoming matches in Super 8. The Men in Blue finished the group stage with three wins in four matches while their last match against Canada was abandoned due to the heavy rain and wet outfield.
Rohit Sharma and Co. defeated Ireland by 8 wickets in their first match of the T20 World Cup 2024. After that, they defeated arch-rivals Pakistan by 6 runs in a low-scoring thriller. India defeated the USA by 7 wickets in their third match of the group stage.
Team India played their first three matches at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York where the bowlers dominated the game. The New York pitches provided great assistance to the fast bowlers and batters struggled to perform.
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma failed to put up a good opening partnership for the team. Kohli only managed to score 5 runs in three matches after having a sensational IPL 2024. Rishabh Pant is India’s leading run-scorer and Arshdeep Singh and Hardik Pandya are the joint-leading wicket-takers of the team.
After finishing the group stage, Team India members reached in Barbados for their Super 8 clash against Afghanistan. In a video shared by the BCCI on X, Indian players were seen playing beach volleyball. The video features familiar faces like Virat Kohli, Rinku Singh, Shivam Dube, and Arshdeep Singh.

India’s fixtures in Super 8
Team India will play their first match of Super 8 against Afghanistan on June 20 at Kensington Oval in Barbados. They will face Bangladesh on June 22 at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua. The Men in Blue will play their last match of Super 8 against Australia on June 24.
