New Delhi: BCCI has organised an open-top bus parade in Mumbai in honour of the Rohit Sharma-led India after their T20 World Cup triumph. The Indian team has departed from Barbados on a special Air India flight and will be landing in Delhi at around 6:30 AM on Thursday, July 04. The Indian players will proceed to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the national capital before leaving for Mumbai.
The Indian team will arrive in Mumbai on a chartered flight and will head to the Wankhede Stadium from the airport. The final couple of kilometres of the journey will be covered on an open bus with the Indian players and the support staff on it along with the T20 World Cup trophy. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma took to Twitter on Wednesday to invite the fans to the victory parade and be part of the celebrations.

India defeated South Africa by seven wickets in the final on Saturday, June 29 to lift their second T20 World Cup title, bringing an end to an 11-year-long wait for a major ICC trophy. The Indian team was scheduled to depart for India soon, however, their travel plans were delayed due to Hurricane Beryl which hit Barbados.
A special Air India flight was arranged to bring the world champions back home on Wednesday. Upon their arrival in Mumbai on Thursday, the Indian players will be part of only the second World Cup victory parade being organised by the BCCI. The first one took place in Mumbai after MS Dhoni-led India won their maiden T20 World Cup title in 2007. There was no victory parade after India’s ODI World Cup victory in 2011 due to a tight schedule.
