Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TSNAB) in a joint operation with Raidurgam Police, Special Operations Team of Cyberabad raided ‘The Cave Pub’ located in Manikonda area of Hyderabad and arrested 24 people, who tested positive for narcotics.
The raid, which was carried out on the basis of intelligence available about the event, uncovered extensive drug abuse including narcotics and psychotropic drug consumption. Among the arrested, DJs Sandeep Sharma and Sai Gaurang tested positive for a combination of cocaine, ganja and Methamphetamine. The raid also brought to light that employees from multinational companies were among the consumers.
Inquiry into the event identified pub managers Fouzan, R Shekhar Kumar, Abhinav, Rajesh, Sai Krishna and Sunny were unveiled as the main facilitators of the event. They are accused of willingly promoting and allowing drug consumption at the party.
“The consumers voluntarily admitted to drug use. We have uncovered all he nodes of the operation. We will call their parents and elders of their families to ensure they join a rehabilitation centre,” a senior police official was quoted as saying.
In a separate incident at Osmania Medical College two days ago, students were arrested for procuring ganja.
The state government, especially the chief minister has been keen on implementing a crackdown on drugs as young people and students are reportedly getting addicted to drugs and indulging in anti-social behaviour.
TSNAB has urged parents to keep an eye on the activities of their children and asked people to call on 8712671111 to report such activities and to strive for a drug free state.
