Telangana: Food safety officials raid blinkit warehouse in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Telangana food safety commissioner’s office has been striving hard to preserve food safety standards across various food establishments in the city over the last few weeks.

Taskforce officials raided a blinkit warehouse at Devar Yamjal, Medchal Malkajgiri, on the outskirts of Hyderabad on Wednesday.

The warehouse premises was found to be very disorganised, unhygienic and dusty at storage racks and no Fostac trainee was reportedly available.

Food handlers were found without headgear, aprons and gloves and medical fitness of food handlers was not available.

Cosmetic products were stored along with food products and the license of Whole Farm Congruence Trade and Services Pvt Ltd was not as per FSS act regarding address mentioned on the label. Notice will be sent, a statement from the department said.

The products manufactured by Kamakshi Foods license were found to be expired, hence the products of VSR i.e Suji, Raw peanut butter, Maida, Poha, Besan and Bajra worth Rs. 30,000 were seized. Suspected infested Whole Farm Ragi flour and Toor dal of worth Rs. 52,000 were seized and samples sent to lab, the statement read.

On June 2, the team had also raided Swiss Castle bakery in Uppal and uncovered similar lapses in hygiene standards. Food related businesses have been given a warning to not compromise on protocols as the raids continue.

However, in a statement, the company said that they take safety and hygiene standards very seriously and are taking corrective action. “We are closely working with our warehouse partner and the Food safety department to implement corrective actions from the findings.”
