Hyderabad: Rachakonda Police on Tuesday busted an interstate child selling racket, in which babies mostly from Delhi and Pune were sold in Hyderabad.
On May 22, a reporter named Manyam Saikumar rescued a baby girl from the three accused Shobharani, Swapna and Shaik Saleem. A case was registered at Medipally police station based on his complaint.
On interrogating the three accused, it was found that they used to get babies from two people named Preeti and Kiran in Delhi and Kannaiah in Pune. Around 50 babies were supplied to Shobharani, Swapna and Shaik Saleem to sell them to people in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh who are in need of children and they set a price range of Rs 1.8 lakh to Rs 5.5 lakh per child.
Rachakonda CP Tarun Joshi said, “16 children have been rescued from the accused and have been sent to Shishuvihar for their safety. The three accused, who are residents of Peerzadiguda, Medipally have been arrested. Saroja, Sharada and Raju have been taking commission to transport children between these places.”
All the eleven accused are from AP and Telangana and have been arrested. Minor boys were trafficked from the states of Delhi and Pune and the trafficking was done through agents and sub-agents. Rescued children will be handed over to CWC and then to their parents after investigation is complete.”
