Hyderabad: Mountaineer Bhukya Yashwant, a tribal youth from Ullepalli Bhukya Thanda of Marripeda mandal, Mahabubabad district of Telangana climbed the 6,250-metre high Mount Kang Yatze-2 in Ladakh, unfurling the Indian national flag at the summit on Monday.
Mount Kang Yatze-2 is located in the Hemis National Park in Ladakh at the end of Markha Valley in the Himalayas.
Yashwant previously set many records of mountaineering, including scaling Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa, Mount Kosciuzko in Australia, Mount Elbrus in Europe, Mount Unnum in Himachal Pradesh.
In a letter to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Yashwant thanked the CM and the state government for providing financial support of Rs 5 lakh via Telangana Sports Authority. “The trust and encouragement he placed in me have significantly contributed to my success.”
Yashwant said that his journey to the top of the summit was filled with hurdles, testing his physical and mental strength. He is planning to conquer Mount Everest and is expecting support and encouragement from the government and well wishers.
