Telangana: Retd Justice Madan B Lokur to head power purchase probe against KCR

Hyderabad: Retired Supreme Court Justice Madan B Lokur will be the chairman of the Commission of Inquiry into the power purchase agreements with Chhattisgarh and the building of Bhadradri, Yadadri power plants, which happened during the tenure of the BRS government.

The appointment of a new chairman comes after Justice L Narasimha Reddy stepped down and resigned after former CM KCR filed a plea in the top court against the panel and the chairman. While the court dismissed the plea, it pulled up Justice L Narasimha Reddy for speaking to the media on the investigation.

Necessary formalities of his appointment as the chairman of the commission have been completed, reports said.

Snapshot of Justice Lokur’s career:

Madan B Lokur practiced law in the Supreme Court and Delhi High Court and enrolled as an advocate in July 1977. He was the acting chief justice of the Delhi High Court, Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh High Court from 2012-2013, Chief Justice of Guwahati High Court and was later a judge at the Supreme Court from 2012 for six-and-a-half years.
