Ahead of Portugal’s opening Euro 2024 match against Czechia, FIFA took to its official Instagram handle to pay tribute to Dhoni and football legend Cristiano Ronaldo with the common link for both the superstars. The official Instagram handle of FIFA World Cup posted a photo of legend Ronaldo wishing him good luck along with the caption as ‘Thala for a reason’.
Both the legends of their respective games wera the number 7 jersey and have been nicknamed as ‘CR7’ and ‘Thala’ by the fans. During the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season, the phrase ‘Thala for a reason” went viral, and all the things related to number 7 were called as ‘Thala for a reason’.
Dhoni fans went berserk after the post was viral and also humorously commented that ‘MSD can take Indian football team to play the Euros on the post.

A few days earlier, Thala also featured in his daughter’s Instagram handle on Father’s Day. He was spending time with his family and beloved dogs, MS was seen enjoying himself with his five dogs in his Ranchi’s farmhouse. After the IPL 2024, Dhoni also spends his vacation in Paris with his family.
Cristiano Ronaldo starts his Euro 2024 campaign
Ronaldo is all set to break the record of becoming the only player to have six edition appearances in the Euros. Portugal will face Czech Republic in their opening game of Euro 2024. Portugal will be without their coach Fernando Santos who helped them to win Euro 2016.
If Ronaldo scores in this Euros, he will become the oldest player to score in Euros and also two assists away from becoming the most assists in Euro history.
