New Delhi: According to reports, Manchester United has decided to keep Erik Ten Hag as their manager for the next season. He is also in talks with the club over a new contract as he will enter the last year of his current contract.
Manchester United conducted a review of the club’s performance in the 2023-24 season. The Red Devils finished at the 8th spot in the Premier League but won the FA Cup final by defeating Manchester City at Wembley Stadium in London.
Ten Hag in an interview with NOS said that the decision to conduct a season review seemed sensible to him.
“As in any organisation, and that seems very sensible to me, there is an evaluation. Conclusions were drawn from there. The new leadership is playing football for the first time”.
He also revealed that the INEOS have spoken to several candidates but they came to the conclusion that he is the best manager for the club.
“That’s no secret. Everyone has heard that they have spoken to several candidates. In the Netherlands that is not done. You are not even allowed to talk to another club if there is a current trainer there. But in England the rules and laws are different. But in the end, they came to the conclusion that they have the best trainer”.
According to the reports, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and team held meetings with Thomas Tuchel, Kieran McKenna before deciding to extend Erik’s contract.
He also joked and said that the club officials came to Ibzia and said that they want to continue with him for the next season “The club management came to me while I was on holiday in Ibiza. They suddenly showed up on my doorstep and told me they wanted to continue with me” he added.
