New Delhi: Just days before the inauguration, the US-India Business Council (USIBC) released “Together We Win,” a report outlining recommendations for the incoming Trump administration to bolster the US-India economic partnership. The report focuses on mutual trade, innovation-led growth, and secure supply chains.
The recommendations cover key areas like trade, technology, energy, defence, supply chain management, infrastructure and financial markets, aiming to strengthen commercial ties between the two nations.
USIBC President, Atul Keshap, emphasised the unprecedented level of the US-India partnership, driven by shared values and economic interests. He believed these recommendations will provide a roadmap for reciprocal advancements. “Our recommendations provide a roadmap for reciprocal trade, innovation-led progress, and secure supply chains, which will benefit businesses and citizens in both nations.”
Key recommendations include:
Spur Growth through Reciprocal Trade: Negotiate flexible, sector-focused trade agreements to
unleash reciprocal trade and unlock billions of dollars in economic potential.
• AI and Quantum Power Play: Develop joint R&D and ethical frameworks that promote our shared
leadership in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and quantum technologies.
• Win the Global Tech Race Together: Create a fast-track STEM visa program to allow the exchange of
professionals in both countries.
• Energy Security: Strengthen crude oil, LNG, nuclear power, and critical minerals trade.
• Resilient Supply Chains: Build secure production corridors for pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, and
medical supplies.
• Defense Innovation: Deploy advanced defense systems to bolster Indo-Pacific deterrence.
• Protect Intellectual Property: Launch an Intellectual Property Protection Incubator.
• Build Together: Fast-track infrastructure projects valued over 1 Billion dollars.
• Unlock Massive Investment: Accelerate the flow of capital by reducing red tape
Looking ahead, the USIBC proposes a US-India trade council, a digital services agreement, and a supply chain resilience initiative (SCRI). These aim to establish both nations as global leaders in trade, technology, and innovation.
Keshap stressed the importance of this moment for the US and India, highlighting the potential for setting global benchmarks. He reaffirmed USIBC’s commitment to fostering this crucial partnership.
