New Delhi: A delegation from United States, comprising a top diplomat, will hold talks with the interim government of Bangladesh led by Muhammad Yunus, the 84-year-old Nobel laureate. The talks are likely to be focused around financial and trade matters. The key delegation led by key diplomat Donald Lu arrived in Dhaka on Saturday.
Donald Lu, the assistant secretary of state for South and Central Asian Affairs, arrived in Dhaka after concluding his visit to Delhi.
The delegation also features Brandon Lynch, the assistant US trade representative for South and Central Asia.
Besides meeting Yunus to discuss bilateral issues, the US delegation will also call upon Finance and Commerce Advisor Salehuddin Ahmed, news agency PTI reported.
Earlier on Thursday, Foreign Secretary Md Jashim Uddin had told reporters “I can only say that the arrival of the US delegation after the formation of the interim government reflects the importance the United States places on its relationship with Bangladesh .”
