1. Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary
Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary is renowned for having the highest density of Greater One-Horned Rhinoceros in the country. Situated on the outskirts of Guwahati, this sanctuary is effectively protecting the rhino’s natural habitat.

The sanctuary encompasses the Rajamayong Reserve Forest and Pobitora Reserve Forest. The Rajamayong hills are home to various species, including leopards, capped langurs, porcupines, and pangolins.

2. Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary

Its convenient location in Ponda Taluka of North Goa makes it easily accessible from both Panaji and Margao, along with its manageable size of just 8 square kilometres, making it an ideal spot for a day trip. The sanctuary is home to various animals, including the Gaur, Goa’s state animal, Sambhar deer, panthers, jungle cats, leopards, toddy cats, wild boars, porcupines, scaly anteaters, and the Malabar giant squirrel. Watchtowers are strategically placed to allow visitors to observe these animals in their natural habitats.
The park also has numerous bird species, with the most common being the Ruby-throated yellow bulbul (Goa’s state bird), the common grey hornbill, and the golden-backed woodpecker.
3. Suhelwa Wildlife Sanctuary
Situated across the districts of Shravasti, Balrampur, and Gonda in Uttar Pradesh and spanning 452 square kilometres, wildlife here includes leopards, tigers, bears, wolves, hyenas, jackals, wildcats, wild boars, spotted deer, Nilgai and numerous bird species including the Little Grebe, Indian Cormorant, Darter, various herons and egrets, and several migratory birds like the Painted Star, Asian Openbill, and Bar-Headed Goose.
4. Gandhi Sagar Wildlife Sanctuary
Gandhi Sagar Wildlife Sanctuary, situated in the eastern part of Madhya Pradesh, extends across the Mandsaur and Nimach districts.
The sanctuary is centred around the backwaters of the Gandhi Sagar Dam and is renowned for its rare wildlife species, including wild dogs (Dholes), chinkara, leopards, otters, and Mugger crocodiles. Commonly sighted animals include spotted deer, sambar, and Gray Langur.
