New Delhi: Torrent Group, an Indian business conglomerate with headquarters in Ahmedabad has announced the acquisition of a majority stake in the IPL franchise Gujarat Titans on Wednesday, February 12. Torrent has acquired a 67% stake in GT from CVC Capital Partners (Irelia Company Pvt Ltd), who bought the franchise in 2021.
Torrent Group “through its holding company Torrent Investments Private Limited (TIPL) has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire 67 per cent of the renowned franchise. The company announced the acquisition on X stating that “Two Titans unite for a winning partnership! Torrent Group acquires a majority stake in Gujarat Titans. Two Titans of Gujarat take guard for a new innings, setting the stage for a POWERPLAY like no other!”.
