Trump Claims Gaza Could Rival Monaco If Properly Rebuilt

Former President Donald Trump stated on Monday that Gaza has the potential to be “one of the best places in the world,” but he believes that Palestinians have “never taken advantage” of its prime Mediterranean coastal location.

During a radio interview with conservative host Hugh Hewitt, Trump expressed his views on Gaza. “I’ve been there, and it’s rough. It’s a rough place … before all of the attacks and before the back and forth what’s happened over the last couple of years,” he added. However, public records show he has never actually visited Gaza. His campaign clarified to the New York Times that “Gaza is in Israel,” emphasizing that Trump has been to Israel.

It is important to note that Gaza is not part of Israel, although some Israeli ministers have called for its annexation. Since the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war last October, nearly 60% of buildings in Gaza have been reported as destroyed or damaged. It is worth mentioning that Israel launched its military operation in response to the brutal October 7th terror attacks, during which unarmed innocents were butchered.

Here is what you need to know

In the interview, Hewitt asked Trump if Gaza could be comparable to Monaco if it were properly rebuilt. Trump responded that it could be “better than Monaco,” highlighting its “best location” in the Middle East. “I’ve been there, and it’s rough,” he stated. “Before all of the attacks and before the back and forth of what’s happened over the last couple of years, they never took advantage of it. You know, as a developer, it could be the most beautiful place — the weather, the water, the whole thing, the climate. It could be so beautiful. … it could be one of the best places in the world.”

Trump’s remarks come at a time when Gaza continues to face severe humanitarian challenges, raising questions about the feasibility of such a transformation amid ongoing conflict.
