Abu Dhabi: The UAE is feeling the heat early this year, with UAE temperature already surpassing the scorching mark of 50°C this week. This scorching heat knocks the door just ahead of the nation’s peak summer season.
According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), the hottest temperature recorded so far this week was a blistering 50.3°C in Um Azimul (Al Ain) on Tuesday afternoon.
UAE Residents across the country haven’t had much respite, enduring sweltering conditions with temperatures hovering around the 49-50°C range for the past few days.
On the afternoon of June 21st, which coincided with the summer solstice, the longest day of the year, temperatures in Mezaira (Al Dhafra district) reached a sweltering 49.9°C at 3:15 p.m.
This early blast of heat is just a trailer before the whole picture, as summer has just begun for what’s to come. Last year in August, the UAE witnessed its hottest day on record, with the mercury reaching a staggering 50.8°C in Owtaid (Al Dhafra Region) in Abu Dhabi.
With peak summer just around the corner, residents are advised to take precautions against the scorching heat. Staying hydrated, avoiding prolonged sun exposure during peak hours, and dressing in loose, light-colored clothing are crucial measures to stay safe in the coming weeks.
