New Delhi: Desire Doue etches his name into the history books as he scored and assisted in the Champions League final against Inter Milan. The Paris Saint-Germain forward became the youngest player to achieve the feat. He delivered a sensational performance as his side faced Inter Milan at the Allianz Arena in Munich.

Doue showcased his incredible composure and creativity at just 19 years and 362 days old. In the 12th minute he broke through Inter’s defensive line and squared the ball perfectly for Achraf Hakimi to tap home the opening goal. This moment marked another piece of history as Hakimi became the first player to score against a former club in a Champions League final having spent the 2020-21 season with the Italian giants.

Doue wasn’t done yet and just eight minutes later, he doubled PSG’s advantage with a deflected strike that capped off a blistering counter-attack. His quick thinking and clinical finish gave the French side a solid 2-0 lead against a stunned Inter team.

With this goal and assist, Doue now joined an exclusive club of players to record both in a Champions League final. He is the sixth player to achieve this feat but stands alone as the youngest ever to do so. Only Patrick Kluivert (for Ajax in 1995) and Carlos Alberto (for Porto in 2004) had previously scored in a final as teenagers.

PSG manager Luis Enrique’s decision to start the young Frenchman in attack alongside Ousmane Dembele and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia proved to be a masterstroke. Meanwhile, Inter’s captain Lautaro Martinez and defender Benjamin Pavard struggled to surpass PSG’s dynamic front line.

The Ligue 1 champions are aiming for their maiden Champions League trophy and have taken a strong start to seal the victory. They also became the first team to score twice in the opening 20 minutes of a final.
As the match unfolded, Desire Doue’s name was already being talked about as one of the defining stories of the night, and finally played a key role that might see them lift the trophy tonight.
