New Delhi: On Sunday, Scotland will conclude their UEFA Euro 2024 group-stage campaign against Hungary in Stuttgart at the MHPArena. Both teams will look for victory if they can reach Euro 2024’s knockout phase.
Scotland picked their first and only point by holding Switzerland last time out. This is a must-win match for Scotland, which still has a chance for the knockout round as one of the four best third-place teams in the group stages. Although to date, Scotland have managed to win just two of their 11 European Championship matches.
In contrast, after being beaten 3-1 by Switzerland in their opener and losing 2-0 to hosts Hungary, Hungary cannot finish in the top two and will be unable to reach the top two if they fail to beat Scotland. Even then, their chances of qualifying for the knockouts are bleak.

Scotland’s side will be missing key defender Kieran Tierney, who was forced off by a hamstring injury midweek. Ryan Porteous will also be unavailable as he was handed a two-match ban after their red card against Germany.
On the other hand, Hungary’s side have little left to lose and will surely attack Scotland from the start. Loic Nego, Callum Styles and South Korean striker Martin Adam are among the contenders to come in. Barnabas Vegaa is expected to be present in the starting XI, as he scored Hungary’s only goal so far.

Scotland and Hungary will be meeting for the first time. With four wins from the previous nine encounters, Hungary hold a slight upper hand in the history of this fixture. Scotland is just behind with one fewer win since their first encounter in 1938.
Both teams most recently locked horns in March 2018, when Scotland picked up a 1-0 victory courtesy of a second-half strike from Sheffield United striker Oliver McBurnie.
