New Delhi: Belgium and France met yet again after their latest meeting in the UEFA Euro 2024 round of 16 where the Les Bleus managed to edge past the Belgian Red Devils to progress through. Belgium had the perfect start to their UEFA National League campaign as they managed to win comfortably in the first game, beating Israel 3-1, as Kevin De Bruyne starred the show with a wonderful brace.
Belgium have looked nowhere close to their best in recent major international campaigns as they faced disappointment during the Euros, crashing out early when their current opponents knocked them out of the tournament. They have had a good start and they will be looking to build up on that against a French side who lost their opening game against Italy. The French national side themselves have looked a bit dull, considering the quality of players and the depth they have in their squad.
They had a rather disappointing Euro campaign and their Nations League start hasn’t quite gone the way they would’ve wanted it to be. They will be facing yet another tough opponent, but their record has been pretty good when it comes to their previous few games against Belgium. However, they couldn’t show the same form tonight and were comfortably beaten 2-0 by the hosts.
Meanwhile, Italy started their campaign with a massive win against a strong French side, beating them 3-1 on the opening matchday of the Nations League. They were the clear favourites to win this game against an Israel side who showed glimpses of confidence against Belgium on the opening matchday but were blown away by Domenico Tedesco’s side. While they did show the same glimpses of their potential, they ultimately finished second best to Italy and lost the game by 2-1.
