New Delhi: UFC President Dana White announced that UFC action will return to Sydney for their upcoming UFC 312 event at Qudos Bank Arena on February 9, Sunday. UFC has partnered with the NSW Government on a four-year deal. It will be the second pay-per-view with the government as the city hosted UFC 293 event in 2024.
It was reported that Former Featherweight champion Alex Volkanovski will return to action in front of his home crowd. Volk was also presented with UFC Vice President Austalia and New Zealand Peter Kloczko to make the announcement of UFC returns to Sydney.
“Sydney, Australia – the Octagon is coming back this summer,” said Peter Kloczko. “Get ready for another cracking event at Qudos Bank Arena, featuring the best local and international UFC athletes. We value the support from our event partners Destination NSW and hope to deliver another record-breaking result, building off the success of UFC 293 in September 2023.” Kloczko added.
No matches have been announced for the event as most likely Volk will headline the event, and the Interim featherweight or UFC Featherweight title will be on the line. The last time when Sydney hosted a UFC event UFC Middleweight title was on the line and Israel Adesanya lost his long title reign against Sean Strickland.
The tickets for UFC 312 pay-per-view will be available on location inside the stadium. UFC also provides a VIP Experience for the fans. Fans who will travel to Sydney for the event will purchase the travel package via Sportsnet Holidays.
Ilia Topuria is all set to face Max Holloway
UFC Featherweight Champion Ilia Topuria will defend his title against UFC BMF champion Max Holloway in UFC 308. It will be the first title defense from Topuria, he defeated Volk and finished his long reign in the Featherweight division. Holloway never won the Featherweight title, he will look to win the title and hold two titles simultaneously.
