New Delhi: The main event of the UFC Seattle event ended in an eye-poke controversy where Henry Cejudo couldn’t continue to fight after double eye pokes by Song Yadong during the fight at the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle on February 23, Sunday.
The bout started with some feints from Cejudo and attacked early with combinations to Yadong. After consuming an early attack Yadong hit leg kicks and forced down Cejudo later in the round.
Yadong continued to attack the legs of Cejudo in the second round as well but Cejudo also encountered Yadong’s attack by hitting the lead leg. Triple C’s combination was not threatening Yadong at all and he was unable to close down the distance.
Yadong was delivering class performance and sticking to his plans. He was way ahead in the bout after two rounds against Cejudo.
Triple C was trying to dominate Yadong in the third round and increased the pace of the fight. Yadong hit a low blow to Cejudo and the fight stopped for some time after that, Yadong popped into the Cejudo’s eye.
Cejudo complained to the referee as Yadong landed two eye pokes on Cejudo and the second eye poke was more concerning. Cejudo took a five-minute break from the bout after suffering two eye pokes by Yadong.
Before the start of the fourth round, Cejudo said he is unable to see his corner and everything was blurry. The doctor came to check on Cejudo and the fight was forced to stop there and Yadong won the fight by technical decision.
