New Delhi: After the massive success of UFC 312 in Sydney, Australia where Dricus du Plessis defended his UFC middleweight title after a unanimous victory against Sean Strickland, UFC action will move back to the US later this month. UFC returns home to the Apex for the next Fight Night in the event which is titled UFC Vegas 102.
Du Plessis lived up to his favourite tag as he dominated his rival Strickland in their middleweight title clash at UFC 312 in Sydney. The 31-year-old South African left Strickland with a blood nose in the main event of the fight card. It was Du Plessis’ 23rd win in the UFC as he extended his record to 23-2 in Sydney.
Indian fighter Anshul Jubli also made a dismal comeback at UFC 312 where he suffered a brutal knockout in under 19 seconds against Australia’s Quillan Salkilld. UFC 102 Vegas also promises to be a cracker of an event and will feature some exciting bouts. Hard-hitting Jared Cannonier will take on Gregory Rodrigues in the main event at UFC Vegas 102.
Cannonier will be looking to return to winning ways having lost his last two fights against Nassourdine Imavov and Caio Borralho. The American MMA star, who moved from light heavyweight to middleweight at 185 lbs, had made a brilliant start in the division with 4 wins in his first 5 fights. However, he has lost his last two matches in a row and will be looking to get a much-needed win against Rodrigues.
Rodrigues is currently unranked, however, he has won his last three fights in a row and a win against Cannonier will significantly boost his rankings. Rodrigues defeated Dusko Todorovich and JunYong Park in his first two fights in UFC before losing against Armen Petrosyan by a split decision. He has since won 5 of his last six fights.
