Dehradun: Union finance minister Nirmala Sitaraman presented her 7th budget for 2024-25 on Tuesday. Announcing the help for Uttarakhand in case of losses caused by cloudburst and landslide, the finance minister tried to address a significant problem in this Himalayan state. According to the information available on the website of Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority (USDMA), extreme rainfall events as cloudbursts are a dominant phenomenon that trigger large scale mass movement and flash floods in the Himalayan region.
Cloudburst and landslides cause loss of life and property
The natural calamities like Cloudburst and landslides are natural and common phenomena in the Himalaya, especially in Garhwal and Kumaon region of Uttarakhand. Additionally, cloudburst and associated disasters affect thousands of people every year and cause loss of life, property, livelihood, infrastructure and environment. While presenting the budget, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that the government will provide assistance for the losses caused by cloudburst and landslides in Uttarakhand.

Big announcement for farmers, women and youth
In this union budget, schemes worth Rs three lakh crores have been announced for the women and the girls, focussing on areas of employment, skilling and MSMEs. This budget also laid emphasis on education and job creation and skilling which sends a good message to youth. The welfare schemes to increase the income of Farmers by enhancing the production of agricultural produce are also the highlights of this budget which is going to help the farmers in Uttarakhand. Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself said that the Union Budget is an important budget of Amrit Kaal. Along with setting our direction for the next five years, it will lay the foundation of a developed India by 2047.
Increased limit of Mudra loan will boost up the economy
While giving his reaction on his social media account ‘X’, Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami said that increasing the limit of Mudra loan from 10 lakh to 20 lakh in the Union Budget 2024-25 is a historic decision. Through this, the non-corporate, non-agricultural small / micro enterprises of the country will be further empowered. Certainly, the strengthening of these sectors will strengthen the country’s economy.
