Unscrupulous activities in banks, digital frauds: What RBI Governor said

New Delhi: Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das said that the credit growth should not run ahead of deposit growth, and there has to be reasonable balance between the two.

Banks need to strengthen their customer onboarding, transaction monitoring systems to check unscrupulous activities, the RBI chief asserted.

Das assured that RBI is working with banks and law enforcement agencies to check Mule accounts and digital frauds.

The RBI Governor informed that some lenders have fixed high ceilings on unsecured loans despite having high exposures.
