New Delhi: WWE commentator Michael Cole got emotional as he announced his farewell on the latest episode of Friday Night’s SmackDown on September 6. Cole said that his stint with the WWE show is over and that he only has good things to say. The day marked SmackDown’s last-ever episode on the FOX channel. The deal between WWE and FOX was established back in 2019 and was for five years, which concluded this Friday.
As per the new agreement, the blue-branded show will now be broadcast on the USA Network from the next week. Cole and his fellow commentator Corey Graves addressed their long time association with the show. Cole said that calling the action on TV was a dream come true for him and he also talked about all the great moments happened in last five years. He went on to add that the duo had record ratings for both SmackDown and FOX in the past.
He thanked all the fans and related persons from the network while bidding an emotional farewell. “We had record ratings for both SmackDown and FOX on Friday nights. We want to say a sincere thank you to all the men and women in front of the camera and behind the scenes at FOX for making the last five years a wonderful part of WWE. Thank you. Until we meet again,” Cole said on the WWE show as quoted by Sportskeeda.

SmackDown results
The first match was between Bayley and Tiffany Stratton – a women’s singles battle. After several moves and blows, Bayley turned out to be the winner, hitting Stratton with The Suicide Dive. Apollo Crews handed loss to Giovanni Vinci while Kevin Owens went on to defeat Austin Theory and Grayson Waller in a triple threat. Chelsea defeated Michin while The Bloodline came out victorious against The Street Profits and DIY.
