A victory earns a team 12 points in the WTC system and a tie means each team will share six points. In case the match doesn’t yield any result then both teams will walk away with 12 points. The organisers (ICC) can penalise teams for slow over rate by docking points off the table. The DED means points deducted by ICC for slow over rate. The penalty is subjective to matches and situations.

England in a difficult spot with maiden WTC appearance seems unlikely

England, who are known to keep the craze for Test cricket alive in the modern-day cricket, are placed in the fifth spot in the WTC points table. The recent loss to Sri Lanka at The Oval dented their chances to vie for a top two finish. One of the biggest factors that hurt the Three Lions in this cycle was the 4-1 defeat in India earlier this year in March.

England also suffered two early defeats in the Ashes last year despite levelling the series 2-2. The washout in Manchester not only cost them the series but also meant they had to settle for 4 points when they were clear favourites to grab the complete 12 points.

India now have accumulated 86 points from 10 matches, having won seven, lost two and drew one. The Rohit Sharma-led side has a win percentage of 71.67. Bangladesh are placed in sixth position with three wins and four defeats resulting into 33 points and 39.29 win percentage.   Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
