Vasundhara Oswal Jailed in Uganda | All You Need to Know About The Case

New Delhi: The Vasundhara Oswal case has hit the headlines due to the shocking circumstances surrounding the detention of the 26-year-old daughter of Indian-origin billionaire Pankaj Oswal. Vasundhara was arrested in Uganda on October 1, 2023, and has since spent over three weeks in custody. She faces serious charges of kidnapping and murdering Mukesh Menaria, a former employee who had worked on her family’s private jet and provided domestic assistance at their residences globally.

The Allegations

The Oswal family claims that the allegations against Vasundhara stem from a former employee who took out a $200,000 loan from them. They assert that the accusations of kidnapping and murder were fabricated as a means to avoid repaying the loan.

Despite these claims, Ugandan authorities have maintained custody of Vasundhara, citing the serious nature of the charges. The family’s allegations have been met with scrutiny, as they argue that the case lacks credible evidence.

Disturbing Revelations

Adding to the distressing nature of the case, the Oswal family released an audio recording of Vasundhara’s last phone call with them while in detention. In the audio, she can be heard crying and screaming, “They’re taking my phone. They’re taking my phone.”

Her sister, Riddhi Oswal, took to social media to voice her concerns, stating, “My sister, Vasundhara Oswal, has been unjustly imprisoned in Uganda for over two and a half weeks, in a prison meant for those convicted of heinous crimes like murder. Yet, she remains behind bars without any evidence against her, and without any valid reason to hold her.”

Pankaj and Radhika Oswal Locked Themselves

Weeks after Vasundhara’s detention, a shocking revelation has emerged regarding her parents, Pankaj and Radhika Oswal. According to reports, the couple has secluded themselves in a “secret location” following Vasundhara’s alleged unlawful detention. Pankaj Oswal reportedly feels “immensely guilty” for sending his eldest daughter to Uganda, where she has now been imprisoned for over three weeks. This development has been confirmed by Vasundhara’s sister, Riddhi Oswal.

About Mukesh Menaria: The Alleged Victim

Mukesh Menaria, the man Vasundhara is accused of murdering, was reportedly found alive in Tanzania, leading to questions about the validity of the charges against her. Riddhi Oswal noted that Menaria provided a notarised affidavit stating that he had not been mistreated by Vasundhara or her family. Despite this evidence, Ugandan authorities have not acknowledged the claims.

Family’s Appeal for Help

In light of the situation, the Oswal family filed an urgent appeal with the United Nations on October 11, seeking intervention in the case. Riddhi expressed gratitude for the media and UN’s support, stating, “I pray for a positive resolution soon. I don’t know how much longer she can endure this torment.”
