Chennai: A woman walking on the road was gored by a buffalo and she was tossed up by the cattle in Thiruvottiyur on Sunday evening. Two more people, who tried to rescue the woman dragged by the cattle for about 50 feet, were also injured in the buffalo attack. In a knee-jerk reaction, the Chennai Corporation swang into action and impunded the Buffalo. “Buffalo Impounded in Tiruvottiyur Incident A buffalo from Somasundaram Nagar 2nd Street, Div 9, Tiruvottiyur, which injured a lady yesterday, has been captured and is now under observation at the Perambur cattle depot. No one has come forward to claim ownership yet,” the Greater Chennai Coporation (GCC) said in a social media post.

The civic body highlighted that “this year, the GCC has impounded 1,117 stray cattle to ensure public safety.”
