The footage shows former President Donald Trump fiddling with a bottle of water during his appearance at the event, which some claim he tampered with after being challenged by ABC’s Rachel Scott.
The viral video has led to widespread debate online, with many users speculating that Trump’s actions were a response to Scott’s pointed questions about his record with Black voters and his controversial remarks about Black people and journalists. Scott had questioned Trump on why Black voters should support him given his past statements, which apparently ruffled Trump’s feathers.

As the video circulated, social media users noted that Trump appeared to tighten the cap of the bottle after Scott had asked her questions. The water bottle in question was later confirmed to belong to Scott, while Trump had his own bottle situated on the table to his right.
“WHY did Donald Trump mess with Rachel’s water bottle? Was he upset with her questions? Did he think tightening the lid would stop her from asking questions?” one user wrote, sharing the clip.
Another commented, “Donald Trump was angry they didn’t give him a water bottle so he took hers but his is right there on the table to his right he didn’t notice it. This is his second watergate event.”
A third user added, “Racist Donald Trump was seen grabbing a black female journalist’s bottle of water and tightening the cap after she turned around. He was pissed and frustrated with her, because she was asking him questions he didn’t like.”
