The second Test was originally scheduled to be staged in Karachi but was relocated to Multan due to renovations at the National Stadium in preparation for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.

England are back in Pakistan for a Test series after two years. During the 2022 visit, England decimated the hosts to clinch a historic 3-0 series whitewash.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is confident of hosting a successful series and providing a memorable experience for both teams and fans.

Pakistan face a stern challenge

The Ben Stokes-led English side arrives in Pakistan on the back of successive home series wins against West Indies and Sri Lanka. However, the Three Lions lost their final Test of the home season to the Islanders at the Oval, London last month.

Meanwhile, Pakistan will look to bounce back from their dismal series loss against Bangladesh in their previous home assignment. The Men in Green slumped to a new low after losing their first-ever Test and the series against their less-fancied opponents.

Pakistan will be hoping that Babar Azam, who stepped down as white-ball skipper on Monday, is back to his best after freeing himself of the captaincy burden.

England will be bolstered by the presence of eight players including Stokes, Harry Brook, Rehan Ahmed, and Joe Root, who had been part of England’s triumphant 3-0 Test series in Pakistan in December 2022.

It will be interesting to see what team combination Pakistan take the field in the series opener in Multan. The PCB has added leg-spinner Zahid Mehmood to their pre-Test camp and trimmed the final squad down to 15 for the opening match.
