Hyderabad: A man attempted suicide by driving himself and his three children into a lake in Inamguda, Abdullahpurmet police station limits on the outskirts of the city on Wednesday.
Locals, who watched the car plunge into the lake, sprung into action and saved the family of four, Tv9 telugu reported.
Ashok, from BN Reddy Nagar, who worked as a contractor took his son and two daughters on a morning drive and after reaching the lake, he drove the car into the water. The locals were able to save them with the help of ropes. Initially, it was thought of as an accident but it was later revealed that Ashok tried to end his life with his three children.
The police are trying to find out the reason for the suicide attempt. Financial reasons are suspected to be the reason for the extreme measure. A case has been registered and investigation is underway.
