New Delhi: Medical professionals have revealed that former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli has clots in his brain just a couple of days after being admitted to a private hospital in Thane district. One of the doctors, who has been closely examining the condition 52-year-old Mumbai resident, said that the patient complained of urinary infection and cramps, which led to him being rushed to a hospital in the Kalher area of Bhiwandi town on Saturday.
Dr Vivek Trivedi later informed that Kambli suffered blood clots in his brain after a series of examinations by the medical team of the Akruti Hospital. There will be further assessment on the player’s health as S Singh, in-charge at Akruti hospital, has decided to provide free treatment to the former international batter.
According to a report by news agency PTI, Kambli was brought to the hospital by one of his fans who also happens to be its owner in Bhiwandi. His condition was said to be stable on Monday.
Vinod Kambli’s condition deteriorates after public appearance
This is the first time Kambli is reported to be hospitalised after his last public appearance at the Shivaji Park in Mumbai, when he attended the event of late coach Ramakant Achrekar’s memorial inauguration. Kambli’s frail condition caught the public eye when he met his childhood friend and Indian legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar.
Kambli wasn’t even able to stand on his own feet and many former cricketers and fans expressed their sorrow over it. Some said that the former left-handed batter was himself responsible for his own condition due to his addiction with alcohol.
Legendary cricketers Kapil Dev and Sunil Gavaskar made an offer to assist him financially on the condition that he should continue his rehabilitation. The player later accepted the condition and said that he is ready to go under rehab as his family is there with him.
