Virat Kohli emulates Yuvraj Singh’s feat of winning all major white-ball ICC trophies

New Delhi: Virat Kohli finally completed his chase for the T20 World Cup trophy on Saturday and put a new feather in his trophy cabinet, clinching all white-ball trophies in his career. Kohli has now equalled the record of Yuvraj Singh by winning four ICC titles as a player. No player has achieved this rare feat in cricket.

Yuvraj Singh won the U19 World Cup in 2000 and, the Champion trophy in 2002 (as joint winner), he was also part of winning the 2007 T20 World Cup and then won the ODI World Cup in 2011 where he also won the Player of the Tournament award.

Meanwhile, Kohli won the U19 World Cup in 2008 as a captain, he was also a member of the winning 2011 ODI World Cup squad with Yuvraj Singh and lifted the Champions trophy in 2013 under the leadership of MS Dhoni and has now won the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Kohli also equalled the record of Yuvraj’s most finals played in ICC tournaments. Both players have now played eight ICC finals.

The only trophy that is missing from his cabinet of Kohli is the Test Championship, he has been a part of two ICC Test Championship finals but has failed on both occasions. If Kohli wins the Test Championship in the future he will become the first player ever to win all the ICC trophies in history.

India lifted their fourth ICC trophy and ended their 11-year drought for the ICC title. India defeated South Africa by seven runs in the final of the T20 World Cup 2024 at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados on June 29, Saturday.
