New Delhi: Nassourdine Imavov stunned MMA world by knocking out former middleweight champion Israel Adesanya at the ANB arena in Riyadh on February 2, Sunday. The Stylebender started the fight with hard leg kicks and found success early in the bout.
Adesanya was putting pressure on Imavov and landed jabs in the fight. The French fighter tried to reversed the attack by shooting an early takedown but Adesanya defended well. The last Stylebender missed an powerful left hook but landed a huge left jab to Imavov.
Imavov was feeling the pressure in the fight and was seen confused after seeing Adesanya’s movement in the octagon. Adesanya was dominating the fight but in the last minute, Imavov caught Adesanya with a clean big uppercut and then followed a double leg takedown but failed again.
In the second round, Adesanya was looking confident whereas Imavov was looking calm. Adesanya again started things off and attacked Imavov with hard jabs and leg kicks to the body.
Imavov pokes Adesanya’s eye and after that landed a big shot on him which dropped Adesanya on the ground and the Stylebender gave his back to Imavov and Imavov finished things off in the second round.
After the win, Imavov demanded a Middleweight title match for his next fight. In the next week, the title will be put on the line as champion Dricus du Plessis defends his title against Sean Strickland.
Imavov defeated the number two-ranked fighter and the number one-ranked Strickland will be fighting for the championship. Imavov’s challenge will be the right thing for the middleweight champion.
