Virat Kohli gives heartfelt reply to PM Modi; Indian superstar’s social post wins the internet

New Delhi: Indian batting maestro Virat Kohli shared a heartfelt post on social media, thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the constant ‘support’ and ‘encouragement’ shown towards the team. PM Modi made a phone call and spoke to Kohli after India’s historic win against South Africa in the T20 World Cup 2024 final on Sunday. India scripted history by ending the 13-year-old World Cup title drought courtesy of a seven-run win against the Proteas in Barbados. The Men in Blue also ended a decade long ICC title jinx in the process.

PM Modi called the Indian team after the monumental win and spoke to the Indian team members, including Kohli, the Man of the Match in the final. Modi shared a heartwarming social media post a day after India’s win with Kohli’s picture of speaking on a phone.

Kohli’s reply to PM Modi’s post is winning the internet.

“Dear@narendramodi sir, thank you so much for your very kind words and your support and encouragement always. It has been a privilege to be a part of this team which has brought the cup home. We are deeply touched & overwhelmed with the happiness it has bought the entire nation.” wrote Kohli on social media platform X (formerly Twitter)

Kohli silences his critics with a title-winning knock

Despite a poor run in the tournament, Kohli stood for the team when it mattered the most. The Indian batting superstar anchored the Indian innings, which was off to a rocky start, with a gritty half-century. His 59-ball 76-run knock powered India to a sub-par total of 176/7 in 20 overs.

The 177-run target was under threat when Heinrich Klassen smashed 24 runs in Axar Patel’s over. But the pace battery turned the tide in India’s favour with some tight overs as SA fell short of the target by 7 runs.

The post-match celebrations of Kohli also broke the internet as his video call with wife and kid, Bhangra moves and Bromance with Rohit Sharma headlined the social media reactions of Indian players.
