In a big warning for all ration card users out there, the government has announced some new requirements that they must fulfill or they will not be allowed to take their ration. What ration card holders must do is to get their e-KYC done at the earliest. Importantly, ration cardholders must hurry as there is a deadline by which they must get this problem fixed or the government will be forced to act. Ration card holders will not be able to draw rations from next month itself, it has been reported.

The ration card has to be verified by the government and that will require them to do it with their Aadhaar card. Yes, ration card verification with Aadhaar card has become a must for everyone. This is an e-KYC step that all ration cardholders will have to take.
However, do note that no money or fee is required, Ration cardholders can get their e-KYC done via Aadhaar card for free.
Why is government asking for ration card verification via Aadhaar linking ?
This is being done to ensure only genuine users get the ration and that these are not pilfered by corrupt elements in society. Also, it will help government to delete the names of the deceased as well as those who are ineligible to get ration.
Where can ration cardholders get their e-KYC done?
According to News18, quoting District Supply Officer Sanjay Kumar, everyone can get their ration cards verified at any fair price shop through the e-pass machine.
Do note another important thing that will happen at the same time. While doing your ration card e-KYC through Aadhaar card, your phone number too will be registered.
How to do ration card verification e-KYC online
Importantly, ration cardholders don’t even have to visit fair price shops. They can go online and do it from anywhere they want.
However, do note that if you are from Delhi, then you must go to the website maintained by the Delhi government. If you are from any other state, you will have to go to the website of that particular state.
